My 9T is being shipped through Haulbikes.com and it has been a horrible experience. They are so hard to get a hold off. Don't return my emails. Don't return my phone calls. Every single pickup they said was wrong. My bike is supposed to be delivered tomorrow and I have not been able to contact anyone at the company for a week. There door-to-door hassle free delivery wont even come to my house. This entire experience is so frustrating and stressful. I should be excited about my new bike, not pissed off the stupid trucking company is full of lies.

I encourage no one to use them.

I think the cost is probably relevant. What did you pay, and how did it compare to prices you were quoted with other companies? I only ask because for some, the lack of customer service, potential delays, and other inconveniences would be acceptable trade-offs for moderate to substantial savings. Sorry about your bike though, I hope you are able to take delivery tomorrow as planned.

Someone finally replied to my emails. After a long string they had to find my bike and now they are saying its gonna be another 3 weeks because the truck broke down. I am so very pissed and they don't seem to care at all.

I used keyboard motorcycle to ship my Bonneville from Maine to Nola in 07. I used shipsbikesright to get my r nine from Cali to Tx. I recommend both. Shipsbikes had great communication and they give you a pick up and delivery date once they get their pickup/drop offs all scheduled. Not like some companies that tell you it will be sometime in this 2 week range and we'll call you when it's a couple days out.

You're in bend. I recommend that you go brewery hopping. That'll make you feel better.

Seriously though. Hope this crap gets worked out for you. I know I would be pissed too. I would have to go brewery hopping.

Thanks Innominate.
Sounds like you have been here. There is a bunch a good local breweries. :eek:ccasion14:

Marijuana is also legal, recreational and medical use. So we have a lot of drunk and high people roaming around. Good beer, good weed and all I can think about is getting my bike. hehe

I used Federal and a friend used Haul Bikes, both times the bikes got there. Big difference is Federal has better insurance and customer service. Haul Bikes had a steep deductible and were a little loose with the shipping info, Federal had no deductible and you could track the shipping. Both would deliver within the same time frame but Federal provided the most confidence in safe delivery. You get what you pay for!!!

I've been looking into shippers and finally decided to tow my bike from NH to CA by myself in a UHaul 6x12 enclosed cargo trailer.

Cost of renting the trailer is ~$800 and I have 10 days to drive it across the country. I will be towing with a new 4Runner I bought last week and am looking forward to the road trip.

As this is a full move I was going to have to pay $2K to ship a UHaul container filled with other stuff (clothes, furniture, etc.) but now I will be able to load all of that into the UHaul with my bike and, in doing so, save a couple grand!

Also, the peace of mind from doing it myself, and making sure it's done right, is priceless.

Hmmm, no, probably not. Are they outside of the terms of the contract? I suspect no. They probably quote 2-3 weeks average times (and likely meet that in most cases) but thoroughly allow for extended delays in the fine print. They're a cross country shipping outfit, I doubt this is their first rodeo.

I went with Federal

Bought a 2003 R 1100SBCR Randy Mamola bike a while back. Had to ship from Kentucky to South West Florida, Haul bikes was cheaper, both had similar delivery times and both had spotty communications prior to the decision on who to use. Haul bikes was cheaper but Federal had better insurance coverage just in case some of those not replaceable decals got scrapped up. I shipped a rare bike Federal about 15 years ago and the tail light got smashed, couldn't find the light at a dealer or for a decent used price. The federal rep told me to find a tail light that I would be happy with and send them the bill for the light and all costs involved. They took care of it without a question.

I was very satisfied with Federal 15 years ago and just as satisfied 4 months ago.

I CANNOT say enough good stuff about Keyboard; They picked up my wife's new Diavel in Louisville KY at 10:30 AM on Fri and it was delivered to my house in San Antonio, TX at 3PM today (tue). It was expertly mounted on a trolly-stand that made it easy for the delivery guy to unlatch the stand from the 18 wheeler's enclosed trailer floor, wheel it to the electric tail gate lift, set it on the ground, undo the straps holding the bike to the stand and, VOILA, I start the bike and drive it up the driveway and into the garage.

I have had bikes delivered on a couple of occasions but never with anything close to this efficiency! Mighty impressive. Use them if you are within their delivery area!

I'm sure it'll work out just fine. I actually still don't know what the point of this thread is... OP posted originally on 5/16 complaining that the discount shipper wasn't giving him great customer service - go figure. Then when they communicated the status and gave him a new delivery ETA, he seemed to be infuriated even further - despite getting the information he was complaining he wasn't getting. And then his bike was received on 5/27.

I think Haulbikes is probably a perfectly reasonable solution for 95% of people shipping bikes. They're reputable, affordable, and insured. If you're in a hurry, or want premium customer service, pay more and use a different company.
