Stumbled across this really well made video comparing the sounds of a dozen or so different exhausts for the R nineT… Thought it’d be beneficial for those looking to make a swap:

What are your favorites?

I have to take into account both sound and aesthetics… So my top 2 are the G&G Low Box and the Pro-Race GP-S1.

EDIT: Looked up some more info on the GP-S1 … It’s universally considered way too loud for non-track use … But I checked out their SR-1 exhaust that comes with baffles and I think I found my next exhaust… Not as bulky as the G&G, sounds pretty nice.

My favourite sounds are:

Euro 4 Urban GS stock exhaust (that thing sounds insane)
Euro 4 Scrambler stock (sounds nice and deep.. also the nicest looking exhaust you can get by far). Which i have on my Urban GS (managed to get it for cheap).
Euro 3/4 R nine T classic double muffer.. Has by far the deepest sound of all exhausts.

None of the aftermarket options sound good to me.. Even though i had a AC Schnitzer; the stock ones sound better. BMW nailed the sound on the Euro 3-4 bikes.
Cant speak for the Euro 5 bikes though.

Thanks for post! Been on my list of things to ask :)
My ‘21 comes standard w akrapovic. Aesthetically I’d prefer the high mount - this involves an adapter pipe and muffler at great $$. I’m not sure it’s sound is worth it, nor the ‘legal’ risk here is Australia.
Always had pipes previously, but now live in a city and I find [some load bikes] too obnoxious, and therefore also restrictive in built up areas.
The deeper note comment sounds inviting, - except the work and legal risk 😜

I love Akrapovic. Their exhaust system I had on my CB650R was the most pleasurable sound I’d ever experienced on a bike. But I’m just not a fan of the sound output on the R9T… and I also would prefer an exhaust that didn’t take away from the looks of the rear wheel.

I bought my 9T used with a high-mount UNIT Garage system already in place. But I’ve been having quite a bit of trouble with misalignments and loose piping, to the point where my mechanic had to weld the high mount to the headers. Now I’m looking to get rid of the whole piece for something else. But $$$ is always the issue lol

Hi Jimbo.actual they now are only supplied with a single set of quiet baffles. Having ridden it after instal a couple of hundred miles, I decided it was still a little too quiet for me so drilled the end cap on the baffle itself out! The baffles are retained by a bolt which takes a couple of seconds to remove to pull the baffle!

Perfect for me once the baffles had been drilled out a little. Liked the look of the twin outlets one either side of the rear wheel as it reminded me of a lovely Remus set up I see on occasion fitted to a Buell that is local to me. PCC recommended a Bike Smart fuelling controller to complement the exhaust change and flapper delete. Overall it was quite an expensive upgrade but worth it in my book! Not yet seen another on the road over here! Buddies reckon when ‘leaning on the gas’ it sounds like an aeroplane! :ROFLMAO:

Now that is a sound I’d love to hear! I only have PCC’s sample and the sample in the video I linked to go off of… They both sound nice, but relatively soft/muted

I love the dual pipe look as well. That’s why the only two exhausts I’m considering now are the G&G low box and the Pro-Race SR-1.
