Hi folks,

Newbie UK owner here. Very much enjoying my 2020 alu tanked R Nine T.

I however need your collective wisdom. The bike came with a whopping Touratec Zumo XT mount with power wired in. I wish to remove the whole thing however it looks like the power for the Zumo XT is not wired in to the GPS accessory power harness on the left side of the bike. Looks like the wiring goes under the tank!

Before I embark on the whole tank lifting experience, can anyone impart some guidance on me in the process of hunting down and removing the power cables for the darned thing.

Thank you! 🙏

Remove the seat and make some pictures..
They could have hooked up the Zumo XT in 3 ways:

  • Directly on the battery (that means it is powered 24/7)
  • GPS plug (but you say it is not wired that way)
  • Branched off the accesorie plug (the powerlet thing on the left).

Altough i think you can take apart the mount.. and only a small plug (the pins that u see in the gps mount) wil be left. I would suggest doing that!

UPDATE - thanks for input all, I can reveal it was connected directly to the battery, so full tank off job (yey!). Anywho, operation complete and the darned thing is off the bike. God knows why they didn't use the GPS connecter.

On the bright side, I know how to remove the tank now 😂 and my OCD was allowed to give it a clean up underneath everything. Spent 7 hrs on the bike the following day and had no issues like the bike rattling to bits en-route, so I reassembled ok.
