Are you not about to embark on a trip? Are you taking your GS911 with you in the event of any issues? Unless you’ve got room to cart your laptop along with you therein lies your answer! I have the WiFi version and it goes with me everywhere!

 

Ditto on the WiFi version. I have it with me on any long-ish trips (over 100 miles from home) and it has saved my backside already. Plugged it in under the seat, connected with my iPhone, reset everything, and down the road I went.

The WIFI version does not fully replace the cable version.
Even with the WIFI version you need a PC with a USB cable to use the full service...

I bought the Wi-Fi version and use it with my iPhone. Super easy, which is really important to me.

 

I prefer to connect via a cable but I bought the wifi variant.

Being a luddite, and having a distinct dislike of mobile phones, I went for the pluggy in USB version.

 

Got me the cable version.
For when I use it (garage, self service) it does the job.

 

exactly, the USB version (i.e. cable only) does not work with the MAC according to the GS911 website.

The Wifi version works with a cable to the MAC

 

I get what you’re saying. I read it as the WiFi version would only connect via WiFi and would not use a cable with Mac. Oops.

 

Whilst this is an older thread perhaps worth a quick visit. I don’t do calendar services because I just don’t do the mileage in 12 months to warrant shelling out for the calendar services. I do sometimes carry out an interim oil change if I am heading out on a longer trip dependent on oil condition. Suffering from mild OCD the reminder niggles me when it comes on! 10 minutes with a GS 911 an ‘auto scan’ to check everything else is fine and dandy and it is dealt with. Great bits of kit. As a footnote I do have the WiFi version for convenience but use the USB cable laptop connectivity at home!
