Just curious- bike has been parked up for about 4 months and connected to a battery saver

Went to start bike and no lights at all as if battery completely disconnected.

Battery was fully charged as used it to run mini air comp for tyres top up.

Had to disconnect the main battery link and reconnect it to get it all to come back to life.

Bike runs fine, is that some sort of in built feature to completely isolate battery during extended periods of inactivity?

As far as I know BMW has no such function on our bikes.

I would rather think that the long time not beeing used could have produced oxcide on the cable connections and by loosening, removing, reconnecting and tightening the cable shoe You fixed it.

Never been to Your neck of the world but I would imagine there is a lot of humidity and that could cause corrotion/oxcide.

BMW like most manufacturers have a "Canbus" wiring system that can behave in truly mysterious ways that conventional wiring doesn't. Disconnecting/re-connecting the battery is likely to have re-booted the ecu and it felt like going back to work. Thats the best technical explanation i can offer.:hope:
