KAROO STREET DOT 2021 - Too Old?

It seems that the KAROO STREET is no longer in production.?
And the Metzeler Karoo 4 Tires will replace the KAROO STREET.

I found a set of KAROO STREET tires on eBay from 2021. Are these tires too old, or are they okay?

Has anyone sued the Metzeler Karoo 4 ? are they better or worse than the KAROO STREET?

Thanks!

Not too old,... you ran run tyres for abt 10yrs or so before they really need replacing, than the "rubber" gets too hard and may become brittle. Tyres 3yr old are propably fine and you likely use them up before they are 10yrs old...

Are those tyres new or secondhand. If new, you should be fine. I bought a Racer in 2020 with its original 2017 tyres. I got 4 years and 16000km (10 000 miles), but I must confess that it was not with confidence. If secondhand, I would not buy as you do not know the mileage on the bike and under what conditions it was driven. My tyres after 4 years still had some mileage left, but on a wet day you could feel the rubber is hard and the bike was all over the place. If in doubt do no buy. Those tyres are super important and there are other options available. My frustration also that you find a tyre that you like and the dealers then drop it. I miss my Z8. Also keep in mind that in Europe you could theoretically get more mileage as road conditions are less harsh in terms of climate, condition of roads, etc. Locally we often hit high temperatures and that shortens the life expectancy of a tyre as well and our roads have many potholes. So, secondhand a definate no.

It's a generally accepted rule that unused tyres should be replaced after 10 years from date of manufacture if stored correctly...............and 5 years after their first use, so those '21 tyres will be fine.

I only had the KAROO STREET on this bike and I'm about to hit 24k miles on the bike.
I like the way the old KAROO STREET looks. I bought the Karoo 4 rear tire by mistake.
I saw a good review about the Tractionator GPS tire and am considering getting it.

Any comments about the Motoz Tractionator GPS?

Honestly, I don't engage in any off-road riding; the only time I ride off-road is when the roads are under construction in the city.
I purchased the bike for its appearance and I ride throughout the year, regardless of the weather. So, I would like to keep the nubby tires look.

These are the tires I'm thinking of. ANy thoughts?

1) Motoz Tractionator GPS

2) Dunlop Trailmax Mission

3) Bridgestone Battlax Adventurecross AX41 Tires

I looked at our local website and they are still advertised for sale. Any reason you do not like the Karoo 4? Looks like a more off-road tyre.

Just checked my trade tyre supplier and Karoo Street are still available.

Their website says....

Karoo Street - An on and off-road tyre for riders who want to venture off piste once in a while.

Karoo 4 - A big upgrade in performance on soft terrain including mud, sand and clay – for a wide range of ADV machines.

Seeing as these two models of tyre offer very different usage characteristics, I would be surprised if the Street is being replaced by the 4.

I'm in the US and all the sites I have checked, especially the rear tire, are out of stock. I think the tires are still for sale in the EU.

Also, in this video, a Metzeler representative says that KAROO STREET will be replaced by Karoo 4.
I believe this is the reason that they are out of stock in the US.

Hello everyone, I've decided that I need 70/30 or 80/20 tires. I primarily ride on the highway in winter and rain, so I want tires with good traction in both conditions. I also want to keep the scrambler tire look!

These are my choices, and preferable tires are at the top.
Any comments about these tires?

1) Michelin Anakee 3

2) Rally STR

3) Bridgestone Battlax Adventure Trail
