Quadlock iPhone mount: handlebar or fork stem?

Hello everyone, new RnineT owner here (actually waiting for spring delivery).
I’m looking for an iPhone mount and decided to go with the Quadlock but can’t really decide whether I’m getting the handlebar mount or the fork stem mount. Also can’t seem to be able to find pictures of fork stem mounts installed on R9Ts. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

Can't help you with pics of the fork stem mount. But I have the handlebar mount and though the quad lock is an excellent way of securing your phone, you're actually pretty limited as to where it can go on the handlebars. I settled with it as seen below with the arm in the 9 o'clock position but it does make it difficult to get the key in when my phone is attached. It was either that or obscure a dial with the arm in the 12 o'clock position or have my phone hit the tank in the 6 o'clock position. Due to the shape of the handlebars and the size of the reservoirs, the clamp won't go anywhere other than just either side of the centre handlebar clamp.

Anyway, just my advice on this particular mount! Best of luck and good luck with the new bike.

I recently added the stem mount on my bike, but I'm running clip-ons and this was the only mount that was suitable for me. I don't know if the stem mount would fit under a standard handlebar (im thinking not), but at the very least you'd need to remove the bars to install it.

I think it comes down to if you have clip-ons or a standard bar:
  • Clip-ons = fork mount
  • Handlebar = bar mount.
Hope this helps. You can also see the vibration dampener installed on mine. Quadlock recently released this after a lot of reports of vibrations killing the optical image stabilisation motors on modern smartphones. As for if it works.. time will tell. I'd rather not destroy my phone camera so I'll give it a go. Excuse the messy garage- I'm in the middle of renovations and it's a mess!

Thanks a ton for all the information!! I get the difference between the clip ons and the stock handlebar now. Thanks for the pictures!!
Based on Quad Lock’s website, I too decided to go with the vibration dampening kit as it states that the R9T vibration isn’t good for the phone.

Thank you for posing this question. I am a new owner of a RNineT 100th anniversary edition. The comments by everyone in here helped greatly. I chatted with someone live from Quad Lock online before I purchased and even sent him photos of the mount area to let me know which would suit it best. I went wit the NEW Handle Bar Clamp Mount with Vibration Dampener and the Wireless Mount. It should take 1-2 days to arrive. After which I will have it installed and take some pictures and upload them here to hopefully help others who come here for the best solution for themselves. Below is a picture of what it looks like. Stay tuned for the final product.
