Hi just read through the thread and would really like to order the rev counter as I have an Urban G/S coming at the end of the month.

What is the BMW part number or code. (Did I miss it?)
I have some contact with a BMW parts supplier so may be able to get one on order and get realistic timescales for delivery!

I´ve ordered a Scrambler on March, and bought the rev counter as an extra.
It arrived last week , after several complains.
So around 3 months of wait In portugal

 

It's not the price that pisses me off, it's the misleading marketing from BMW - every pre-launch review, every brochure for the Scrambler suggesting a tachometer would be an available option. What B*******s. That said the bike is everything and more of what I hoped it would be. As for BMW - they can go f*** themselves. I have now discovered Yamaha - BWM C650 Sport was on my list to replace a Piaggio MP3 but it's agricultural machinery compared to the competition - so while I'll be keeping the Scrambler this will be my only and last BMW. I know it's a rip off but I would still like to order one.
Can someone please give me the part number for the Tacho kit.

 

In the Pure Brochure it has the following part numbers:

If you google "bmw 62 11 8 564 506" you get a price from KFM of 306 Euro, but I think that is just for the instrument.

Anyone in UK got the rev counter on the Scrambler? If so, how much did it cost? I pick mine up Friday and have a £500 voucher to spend at the dealer

 

put the 500 towards suspension upgrades....before I changed the front and rear, my scrambler was fine on smooth roads, but you had to have a "glass throttle " on anything bumpy....now the ride is supple and controlled...no more jarring over sharp bumps, it really made the bike and ride experience a whole lot better!!....you don't need a tachometer on this engine...IMHO

 

Does the Rev counter come with the relevant cabling or wiring ? Or is that another part number?

 

The cable is tucked up under the right side of the gas tank. I seem to remember that it was zip tied to the frame.

Just had the first 600m service done on my Pure and while there I asked about the rev counter (I believe it is the same accessory as for the Scrambler). I was told that there is no accessory tach for these models.

When I pointed out that BM introduced it recently in their accs. catalogue (where they call it a "speed indicator") the guy hunted round a bit online and said it was a case of BM showing it before it actually becomes available here because it doesn't appear in the official parts listing source that UK dealers use. He did not know when it would become available and at what price.

Not the first time, he remarked, that BM have promoted accessories and other items like helmets long before they are actually available here.

 

Rev Counter

That is all you need.
I just mounted the Rev counter on my Scrambler.
Since I did not want to wait for the Scrambler/Pure Bracket for twin instrument cluster I took the one that belongs to the 2017 Nine T (46638558379, 19,55 €).
Works well, looks good.
As for the Countersunk Head Screw (64226916475) you need only one of those.

Oh cool. Did the '17 NineT bracket bolt on with no issues? Do you have any pictures? I'm debating on pulling the trigger for this.

 

No problems at all! Fits perfekt.

Your setup looks great. What other functions are available in the digital display of the tachometer ? Are they programmable or simply selected/viewed sequentially ?

Functions are selected sequentially by the Info Button on the left:
Average fuel consumption, actuell fuel consumption, date, Volt, Roadtime and average speed.
The gear is shown all the time. You can reset the settings but there is no way to programm anything (as far as I know).

Rev counter now available in UK

Just had an email from my dealer letting me know the Scrambler rev counter (tachometer) and fitting kit is now available to order.

 

Confirmed with dealer (in Italy). Tachometer kit is available and fit's Urban & Scrambler. € 500 inclusive of installation.

 

Can the scramble Tachometer or the 2017 Ninet's Tachometer fit the 2014 R ninet model?

 

No. The earlier bikes have a different canbus and connector. Besides, earlier ones all have a tach anyway. All of the new submodels can use the tachometer, Pure, Scrambler and Urban. Racer and R9T come with it already.

 

In the netherlands the kit is still not available (parts of it) waiting for 4 months now.

 

Hi all, I received all parts yesterday and installed it on the bike...

All fits very nice and works as advertised.

Only thing is that the cables (brake / clutch) are tight now.... can my fellow scrambler owners let me know if they had the same and if there is any way to lengthen the cables a little?

I'll probably give it a try. Just can't get myself to pay what BMW is asking for their tachometer.

 

That looks great, think I'd fit that rather than the BMW tachometer if it was just down to looks, especially if I had the UGS.

 

All its missing is a redline at 8.5k and max of 10k but I think I can live with that.

 

Paint a thin red line at 8.5K and paint the entire lower right pie quadrant flat black, and you'll end up with a 270 degree sweep tach.
