Galling really only happens when you don't allow the heat to dissipate (i.e. screw them in fast with an electric screwdriver)...

I also noticed that a lot of the fasteners on my Scrambler are A2 stainless

Another good day tinkering in the garage. With the following mods, I've got things set up the way I like, for now at least. Time to put some miles on before I decide what to do next.

1: Finally got the missing bolts from Voigt for my handlebar risers. They really make a difference in riding position, being 25mm higher and 23mm further back. I also rotated the handlebars to a slightly higher angle.

2: Tweaked the position of my windshield a little. Very happy I got that to work out, and I'm getting used to having no headlight fairing.

3: Fashioned a means to attach my old, stiff (but not hard) tail trunk to my tiny little luggage rack. I used four straps with buckles in the corners so it goes on or comes off in about a minute. Sadly I can't attach or remove my saddle bags once the tail trunk is buckled in, but I can at least open them and reach in, which was not possible on my old bike.

I called KD and they are saying it will not fit on 2021 scrambler.. bummer

they are actually going to offer me to try but upon looking and searching, they found out that there is one on their system that got returned. "not fit on my scrambler"
she told me as well that no plans on their department about making these anymore. probably they will if a lot of folks going to ask and im number 1 on their list lol
I have a set that fits on my '14 but not on the '17. Unfortunately it's true.
I was able to drop a very little bit When I installed the pivot pegs. I have a 32 inch inseam and I've gotten used to it.

I removed a bunch of accessories today: crash bars, bash plate, oil cooler guard, headlight grill, fly screen, and rear rack. After riding a few fire roads recently, I finally came to a few conclusions - 1. As much as I'd like to plan a trip to Guatemala or the Dempster Highway, I'm not taking that type of trip until my kids are much older; 2. I'll need to invest in a second bike if I ever want to go on any "proper" adventures (maybe an UGS with an upgraded suspension); 3. I didn't buy this bike for adventure riding, I bought it for the simplicity and the "cool" factor, and a big part of me missed the look of the bike without all this stuff.

I'm definitely keeping the scrambler high bench seat, bar end mirrors, center stand and air intake guard, but the rest felt unnecessary for now.

I’ll happily take that bash plate off your hands 😊

Handelbar Clamps are original puig?, included in windshield pack?. I got givi A660 but clamps didn`t work properly. "Universal kit" of givi is not as "Universal" as I thought. Handelbar is thicker than usual, and clamps included in the givi A660 pack didn´t work.

All Puig Windshield has same clamps kit?. I am interested in Custom II puig windshield but I want to be sured they will work properly with thicker handelbar.

Thanks in advanced.

Yes, the handle bar clamps are the original Puig that came with the windshield. They can be mounted on the horizontal, central part of the bar, next to the riser clamps, as shown in the photo. I found them just barely long enough, though. I would have preferred to clamp them on further from the center, where the handlebars rise up (between the bends), but the bars are variable diameter there so it was not possible. The Puig clamps can accommodate a thinner bar, but not a variable diameter bar.

Regarding givi A660 the clamps are quite malleable they just need pulling into shape,
had this fitted for 3 years and over 6000 miles, with no movement or issues,
easy to remove by releasing clamps and sliding bars out leaving clamps on the bike for seat hump no touring days,
hope this helps,,,
