I want to take a moment to sincerely thank @Manyakus for his extra effort to document this issue. It is certainly more detailed and helpful than even the Haynes manual. I wish I had seen this earlier. Even if a significant amount of this intelligence stems from several of the members of this community, that’s clearly marked in the pdf and I personally really do not care or work for the trademark police. @JohnT why are you so adamant about this? We are in this community because we are looking for each other’s help and support, and this extra work does just that, perfectly. One can try to go through the really long thread here, or go to a great concise manual right away. Choose your solution. For me, it’s clearly better to have it all in one place. So again, thank you Manyakus for the extra time it took to take all those detailed pictures - by yourself -, it really helps. I will now go ahead and remove my screwed-up Rizoma lever from its 30 min Acetone bath and hope this will have literally solved my issue. Wish me luck!

Just modified the brake lever free play on my MY16 Classic. Greatly improved the brake feel. Thanks alot to all contributors on the manual.

Is it possible to order the pre 2017 master clutch cylinder and lever so I can make this modification to my 2018 Urban GS. I find it difficult to pull away quickly from stationary at traffic lights and junctions with the bite point too far from the handlebar.
Is it right that by altering the position of the threaded rod I can bring the biting point closer to the handlebar ?

After the modification and a brake fluid service (done by the dealer) I've noticed something 'weird' with my brake lever feel and I'm curious if someone on the forum recognises this and/or has a solution for it.

I've adjusted the freeplay to around 2cm. Still relatively large for safety reasons to prevent lock up. However, if I pump the brake a few times in a row, the brake lever becomes significantly more hard and the freeplay reduces to almost zero. If I wait a certain time, the freeplay comes back to normal.

At first I thought there was air in the brake system, so I bled the brakes at both calipers) but that didn't seem to be the case. Does anyone recognises this?
