Looking at the RH cylinder the Oil cap is a bit of an eye sore. I have seen the Option 719 oil cap as a replacement, but wonder what else is out there?

Something nice, in metal?

Any suggestions?

I swapped the OE plastic affair with a combined cap/oil temp gauge thingy off ebay........so now it does two jobs for the price of one......or three jobs if you consider it looks better than the stock cap as well.

If that's not your bag....there are also these caps for a measly £10, in addition to the suggestions already posted above. >>

Yeah, that's the hammer @Norbi......though mine is black.

I've just been perusing the bay......and found loads of different oil caps.......some are anti-tamper/theftproof, which is always a nice 'mind at ease' feature if the bike is ever left/parked anywhere out of sight.

Yep. Mine is also the same as Norbi's in that it's silver. LOL at myself as much as I hate changing anything that just adds weight I thought it was cool and utilitarian. Or at least that's what I tell myself.

I bought a basic and cheap Chinese made alloy cap on eBay that uses a 6mm hex wrench to tighten and loosen. It came with an o-ring, which I've replaced once. They run $9 to $10 USD. It was originally black - and the inside still is - but the outside has gradually faded to a cool, vintage looking brown.

Common phenomena with cheap Chinese black anodized parts is it turns copper color when exposed to heat or sunlight for a long time. Red also fades easily. Other colors are ok.

Damn! That is SO against all BMW branding rules. You know that you’ll never see any other than straight up BMW logos on exhibition cars, right? It can cost you the job at BMW if you were the poor dude in charge. 😂

I'd say it's a users fault on alignement. Just try to start in a different tread when screwing in.
...........and be aware of this from web:

Pay attention to the orientation:
The oil cap often has a small vent hole or recess.
This must be oriented so that it faces the engine when the cap is put on.
This is important for the vent to work.

Sorry, Thomas, no matter how hard I try, my "OPT ION 719" cap only offers ONE position.
