What did you do to your R nineT today?

I know it's a cornball topic however this type of thread has been very entertaining and extremely informative on other forums. Our souped up NC Miata has multiple improvements, the ideas gleaned from a similar thread at miata.net, and the little tips gained over the years now seem essential. Obviously technical specifics should be posted in the appropriate forum however a general digest of daily tinkering or even that awesome ride you took today may inspire someone to expand their R nineT envelope.

So, today I installed the Ohlins Steering Damper. It almost seems like it's upside down but thats what the instructions show. Next was surveying the available real estate in the frame behind the steering head for the small Stebel Nautilus tooter that arrived today. Tight fit indeed if this is going to work. And finally, I stared at the bike for a long time as usual, with most of the constructive thoughts towards the next generation of my tail tidy (thanks again Marc Australia).

Hopefully tomorrow I can post that I took Li'l B for a long, long ride instead of just dinking with the bike.

Pleased to know you enjoyed our twisty Welsh roads @jonnoMK.

Looking at your map, it appears you came right past my neck of the woods. If you ever visit that area again, I could direct you to some great biker cafés if you're interested.

Track day today at Bedford Autodrome. 96db on the static noise test at 5500rpm with standard akra cans and OEM headers if anyone is interested. Surrounded by fast Japanese bikes, s1000rr's and Ducati's all day so people were surprised when the R Nine T guy came steaming past people on the straight 😅. Photos of the day to follow once MSV upload them (if there's any decent ones). Finally got my left knee down. Had to hang off the bike like an orangutan though..

Haven’t posted here for a while. ‘Cause she was parked a bit while I was scouting her new home.
But today I’ve sent her off to her new shores.

From Austin, TX to Bolzano, Italy. This will be epic!

I installed an SW Motech Pro tank ring and vinyl wrapped my snorkel cover in matte black. I'm super happy with my other SW Motech parts (panniers/mounts and center stand), but the tank ring was a little bit of a a disappointment - the replacement gas cap ring in the kit has more a gray finish than silver and doesn't match the existing gas cap very well. 🤷‍♂️ I haven't decided which tank bag to get yet - the Daypack or the Sport. And this was my first time vinyl wrapping anything. With a little patience and my wife's hair dryer, I'm super happy with the results.

Well,... with the bag on your tank, you don't see the ring.... out of sight, out of mind...

and not jealous at all of your garage,.... just look at it.... fridge (full of beer I assume), carpets every where, serious work bench.... there are even books!!

Not often I get to ride my bike to work, evidently, the boss's daughter thinks it's cute now.

I was also told the bike looks like a duck face if you stand directly behind it. The blue on the tank are the eyes, apparently and the red seat is the duck's bill.

Kids' imaginations are like a mild hallucination experience lol

Rode up to the Oasis café in Abergav yest afternoon.

Spoke to a few fellow bikers up there, and whilst chewing the gristle a 21 Rnine rode in (not a 2021 plate, but the roadster with the big yellow circled 21 on the tank), but unfortunately he buggered off before I could get the chance to speak to him......so, was that you?

It was my intention to ride on further from the café, but dark clouds were rolling in, and the place was quickly emptying, so joined the exodus and high tailed it outta there, and headed back home before the wet stuff arrived.......which it never did!

Was cleaning the suspension today and changing the setup a little, when I found this gaping hole;-)
Can any of you guys help me out to what it's for? Guess I am a complete clown for not knowing, but I figured that if it has no purpose BMW would have shurely plugged it, right?

Added +20mm risers to my existing offset risers.... Hands been dying for too long haha.
Spent ages ensuring the cables and lines are not stressing or fouling. Previously did a lot of this when installing the 2nd guage (modified the tachometer bracket)

Already can tell this height and position is much more suitable. I have ordered the OEM 100mm M10 bolts to replace the cheap socket cap bolts included as I'm not sure if they're the correct tensile.

Also investigated the missing bolt for my hugger, the bracket is snapped and so is the bolt.
Couldn't find my bolt extractor so ordered another... The brackets tube is copper and pressed into the plate part so can't be welded but I can make a new thicker plate

I was going to mention who dropped my Pure on my first day of ownership, the 1st and last time I’ve allowed anyone on it, but it feels like a betrayal. Their pride was hurt more that my valve cover. I have waited before posting to make sure my valve cover project was a success. That being said, I removed, fixed and painted my head covers. I also checked clearances while in there. To make things interesting, I snapped one bolt and ended up having to use a heli coil. This was after spending countless hours trying to extract the bolt head. It is all reassembled and back on the road.

Busy day at the curb for me: fresh engine filter and oil, gearbox oil, and final drive oil... one of these years I'll remember to check for the gasket from the old oil filter instead of struggling to get the new one on for five minutes.

I also switched back to stock headers and removed my RapidBike Easy. I have no regrets and I'm glad I tried them, but after nine or so months, I don't think I need them.

Why is it always end up being super windy when I plan my fluid changes????

Took my 9T in for a service today and The dealer gave me an S1000RR for the day.

I hated it at first, but mainly because it was raining and was using rain mode.

When the sun came out, went for a blast and I honestly think it's too fast for the roads.

Quick shifter is great and all that, but it sounds muted unless you're absolutely hammering it by which point you're breaking the law. In fact, most of the time I was on it, I was going faster than I should have been.

I got my bike back a couple of hours ago and whilst it felt weird initially, I soon got used to her again and can honestly say, the 9T is waaaay more fun to ride... (and sounds much nicer)
