Yesterday little day-trip around home. 660km. I am not sure, but last years I only want to ride new zones. New roads and landscapes. Not interesting in near and familiar zones that are already known ... I don´t know why?. It compell me to go further. Also when I am preparing a long travel, I prefer to visit new zones and roads than repeat same places.

So, Ray…(@Dauphinais) how about those Ecuador ADV pics&stories?
Hey @Norbi - I had such a death grip on the bike for most of the trip, I really don't have many pics, but I will post some I do have, mostly after picking myself back up. Rainy season, mudslides, missing roads, it was one hell of an adventure.

We're still sorting some of the GoPro footage as well. Stay tuned.

Very good job!!!. How many kilometers?. Clean with WD40 or similar, depending on part better use alcohol?. Picture 4. I am afraid of these littles springs and magnets. It is very difficult to get them in original position again?
33.000km, but I think the previous owner did a lot of short trips.

Too be honest, I did the dismantling twice. Once to see if I could dismantle and put it back together again working. That time I sprayed some stuff with WD40 and cleaned some of the grease(with bits in it).

The second time I dismantled everything and gave most of it a bath in benzene.(sorry don’t know the correct english term, in dutch its called “wasbenzine”. And cleaned everything with a toothbrush!

Then I greased the moving parts ballbearing grease.

And yes, the brushes were a fun bit. I took some nylon thread and one by one put them back in their “slots”.

I also sanded the copper bit on the “anchor”

The only thing that I kept 100% clean(no grease, no WD40, is the inside of the solenoid/bendix. That part should apparently be kept clean!

All in all a fun bit of work!

Had tires and battery replaced. Tires were original I'm pretty sure and battery definitely was. Bought the bike a year ago with 4k miles and it has almost 10k now. Replaced the stock Metzler's with Michelin Pilot Road 5's and stock BMW battery.

I had the dealer look into an issue with the lighting (getting bulb error light) they think it has to do with my Rizoma rear turn signals and the Motodemic headlight. Thing is they have worked fine for almost a year now so who knows.

Not today but yesterday, my first ride for 2022. Just 15 miles for my round-trip work commute, with including a few extra miles each way for fun, but it's a start!

It's been a long three months since my last ride on New Year's Eve. I've been itching to get out, but between just occasionally decent weather in March, remaining salt on the roads, and my busy schedule, I wasn't able to get my Pure out of hibernation until this week. This isn't the latest I've started a riding season, but it felt like forever to me.

Ha! At Bobs? I was on the UGS

Today I removed the "Mickey Mouse ears" and replaced them with some more off-road friendly mirrors.

(tbh one of the original mirrors already got removed in a little off road incident on the weekend... See my YouTube for that one...)

Had the steering damper replaced under warrantee. Is that a common failure point?
Sorry to hear that. There have been debates here about whether the OEM steering damper should be upgraded or whether it's even necessary, but I don't recall seeing posts about them failing or being replaced under warranty. So no, I don't think it's common. Glad it was covered though!

Yep that was me. Rare to see another R9T at Bob's unless it's on a Saturday. I'll be heading back before long for my 12,000 mile service. Will have to find some time to troubleshoot the lighting issue.
Yeah, this was my first time bringing my R9T there. I used to bring my 1991 K100RS and 1976 R90/6 in once in a while. A couple of weeks ago I hit a pothole so hard that I somehow broke the internals of my wheel speed sensor and was able to get it replaced under warranty.

This past Saturday I had the tachometer installed by the dealer, but have some issues. It’s not registering the speed correctly and looks like it freezes. This is the bike parked and still shows 3mph. Unless I’m missing something, this doesn’t look right. Gonna have to get it back to the dealer!
Didn’t ride more after I got home so installed a few bits: Evotech oil cooler guard, SW Motech engine protector, Unit Garage side bag, and Wunderlich crash bars. Fun to do the mods, but I need to give my wallet a rest. Personal goal: no more mods till after 6K mile service.
