Fitted a new rear mono shock form the Shock Factory, service was excellent and quality looks good especially as it's a "relatively" budget option. Fitting was very straight forward and an initial reaction after riding a local bumpy road is very, very positive.
Fork cartridges next :giggle:

I've toyed with one of these for my R Nine T Classic. Can I ask what sort of money it was and how long it took to get it? Thanks

it only took around 4 days to be received Fast H and i just got in before prices went up, now they are ÂŁ325.00 plus the VAT and handling paid directly to courier which should be around ÂŁ75 so ÂŁ400 all in delivered. Mine is standard and you pay more for different colour or remote adjuster etc.

Thanks for the info. What are your thoughts on it good & bad? Regards
it's early days as only managed a short ride, but that ride was on a regular road that is extremely bumpy with raised tarmac ridges on several bends. My bike used to shake it's front and throw me out of the seat a bit but not anymore so initially very positive.

Went for a longish mostly dirt ride today.... prettly well happy with my scrambler now.... suspension wise and riding position etc. I finished my camera tank bag insert so all that is done now.... sewing is very frustrating.

I'm feeling much safer at higher speeds on the same dirt roads I've been riding for a few months now.... so fork work and rear shock has paid off... I've settled on 32psi in front tyre and 34 in rear.

I had a second go at making a wood base insert for the tank bag that fitted the Unit Garage rack.... this one fits well.... more luck than skill.

Going to now make a modular rear rack and see how that goes.... idea is to have a small unobtrusive rack that takes "secondary" racks for different purposes.... so one for camping, one for day trips etc.

I rode for the first time in 4 weeks since my crash when I slid out on an oil slick riding my Tiger 1200 and breaking my left ankle. Felt good to get back on the R NineT albeit a little cautious. I call it Moto Therapy. Up and down shifting is the same motion the orthopedist instructed me to do with the theraband. Then I cleaned off the bugs and pollen. Now for a Rogue Dead Guy Ale.

Added a few Gilles goodies:

Gilles Black Adjustable Rear-set
Gilles Rear Brake Reservoir Cover
Gilles Oil Filler Cap

Replaced the battery (again!!) this time for a normal gel battery instead of fancy lithium ones (the previous two were lithium and we had issues).

Only to find out the battery wasn’t the culprit. Apparently I was in need of a new starter motor. So instead of ordering one right away I made the call to dismantle the starter motor, clean it up, and put it back together.

Bike starts a bit better than before, but I guess I have to buy new brushes and/or a new solenoid.

I tried to find a proper “how to revise your starter motor” topic on the forum, but haven’t yet found it!

Just installed a Blueskysea B1M Dashcam. This is the second one I have (also on my 2018 r1200gsa Rallye) and it's an easy install. The cameras are stuck with the 3M that comes with them but the surfaces on the bike are all slightly curved so I've also zip tied them for now.

I've got a 3d printer so I think I'll make some brackets to mount them better. The dvr unit is under the rear part of the seat and just squeezes in.

When I first stated it up I got only one red light on the dvr (a common error that is in the manual) and nothing else so I did a firmware update which fixed it. Something to do if anyone else has this problem after buying one.

The one on my r 1200 GSA has been working for nearly three years so I'm happy with them

I've just stuck the controller hear for now.

I'll test for a couple of weeks and then settle on where they will stay.

Was fun to do! I might write a “how to” for peeps that also want to do it, but mis the steps.

Now I just have to wait for the new solenoid to arrive.

Hey @Dominic - Great job, I'll bet the forum would love a write-up if you ever get a chance to put some notes together. (y)

Took it out for the first of the year shake down run after yearly maintenance, mods and more. Brought it back home to recheck everything, took it back out once I knew the wheels weren't going to fall off and darn it.........I still have to look back at it and grin like a kid that got away with something when I walk away. I think about it like a teenager thinks of his first love and see no end to this love affair. 🍺

@Dominic The forum would love a write-up of the procedure! Nice work! :)

Very good job!!!. How many kilometers?. Clean with WD40 or similar, depending on part better use alcohol?. Picture 4. I am afraid of these littles springs and magnets. It is very difficult to get them in original position again?
