Compatible handlebars for the 9T (clip-ons, different bars etc)

As far as I understand, the NineT's fork is about the same as the S1000RR, just simplified (not adjustable). This means, the diameter to consider for clip ons should be 55mm (anyone to confirm?).

Regarding the bar, that's a dual diameter piece, 28.6mm in the middle, 22mm at the ends, if I understood correctly.

I wasn't able to have them in France (shipping was expensive, and delays...), this is why I've bought the ABM clip ons (with a 20% discount), but they were in my short list!

Can't wait to have a look at your pictures!

I have the Roland Sands clip ons and even though they adjusted my forks and triple tree (cant recall how exactly sorry) the rake was still too agressive even for short hauls. I added the Wunderlich vario paralever (expensive) and had an ex BMW race shop dial it in for me. The bike is now neutral and not even at the lowest setting. The paralever made all the difference albeit a costly add. Still not a long haul config but for my use around San Diego perfect. I could easily see for others however still to agressive a stance.

I checked out different Rizoma handlebars and to me the MA005 seems to look the best.
Yeah, I think so too... I'm abandoning my Pastranas now too as I ordered the MA005 yesterday.

I hope for a little bit more lean-forward, with the handle tipping down. The Pastranas are perfect (well almost), don't get me wrong, but I would like a bit more of a cafe-racer style position.

Seeing how low the Rizomas are compared to the FMX bars, I think this is going to be it.

I'll report back once they are installed.

Ok! Finally got an answer on the ABM clip ons:

"Sorry for the delay, here is what we can offer... The Multi Clip On full
MSRP is 419.00 sold separately is the matching "short cap" bar end which
retails for 26.95. With any minimum purchase of 5 units or more we can offer
you a price of 377.00 for the Multi Clip-On and the short cap (in Black).
just FYI we have a shipment that will be shipping from ABM in Germany Friday so
anything ordered before that point will take 7-10 days (estimate ) to
arrive, any orders later than Friday will go on our next pallet from Germany
which would be roughly a month to 6 weeks from now."

Who is interested? It'd be great to place order by Friday.

Mhmm, to be honest I'm still not sure.

I was probably hoping that the handles are tipping down sideways a little more to have this 'in-between' of clip-on/clubmans and normal handle bars.

But because the Rizomas are so low you can't tip them backwards as much otherwise the controls hit the tank.

Also, even though they seem to be almost the same width as the Pastranas they appear narrower. The handle/grip-part angle is bigger, that's probably why the ends feel closer together.

Don't get me wrong, they are good... just not what I was really looking for.

That's the fourth set of bars

Should have gone for the ABMs first thing... but now I gotta buy a pram ;) this was probably the last coin I spent on the T for the next 18 years... :|

I just fitted the LSL Superbike Fat Alu Bars, they are about an inch narrower each side. They make my bike feel a lot better, maybe because I am not a tall person (5'6") and so my arms aren't so long.

I went for gold to match the gaudy forks. I hate BMW for using stupid little (4mm) holes in the bars to fasten the controls on, they make it impossible to move stuff around; I was nervous drilling the new LSL bars but I seem to have done it reasonably correctly, thank goodness.

Everything fitted back on the new bars OK, including my RAM clamp and Givi screen.

Next job is to get the bar-ends fastened on somehow, or maybe not at all. Might try using some Sugru I bought a while ago, just in case. Has anyone else addressed this task? I can't decide whether it will look better with them on or off. I like the gold ends showing but the bar-ends are quite classy.

I couldn't edit this in time.... ignore the above and just read this:

Is there a reason no one has suggested a high rise clip-on like this?
Spiegler Performance Parts - Clamps Offset High

I know that option isn't the 55mm we require, but there are some out there:
HeliBars BMW S1000RR 2010-2014 - RevZilla
Harris Clip-ons

It is less bulky and much slicker looking.

Is it because the bar is in front of the forks whereas people are using the adjustable (Like ABM) to get the bar in line with the fork to reduce the amount of reach?

I think may questions may have been answered here, but still curious if anyone has tried this type of solution.

How is the installation of new handlebars work? I'm looking at some rizoma bars, Is it just simply to take off the components and change bars? or do I need to modify the bars? I want all the original parts back on, even the bar ends.

You will have to drill the bars to take the switchgear and grips. Annoyingly BMW bolt their switches/grips to the handlebar using a bolt which goes straight through the bar on both sides. The standard bar ends are screwed into the stock BMW bars as there is a thread inside there to take the bolt. There may well be a way of fitting the stock end caps (almost sure someone posted about this) but I'm afraid I don't know.

Folks, I've been reviewing this thread and the content really doesn't seem to fit the thread heading. Not really a clip-on thread, more of List compatible bars for the 9T....

I'm going to change the thread title to something more appropriate..... ;)

My vote for bars for the 9T goes to the Rizoma MA008B - narrower and lower than stock, sporty, but not a full racing crouch.... These are keepers! ;)

Yeah, Fluffy McSnugglebutt, my 9T. She suffered some damage, but nothing too severe.

I was hoping those weren't the stock bars fitted with a cross brace. I was hoping they were some rad high rise, moderate sweep alloy rad bars. Oh well.

While on the subject of bar exchange!

In the process of removing Bar mounted 'Throttle controls' and left side as well - Is that a 10 Torx or a 7 ? I'm new to Torx and neither of my 2 Torx kits get that small - smallest I have is a T15x100 ... guessing a 15 - Crazy as this appears to be pretty small!
Any help at all - appreciated - need to get tools tomorrow if locally available - thanks-

hi guys, so I just bought a rizoma MA005 in silver. Now that I have the bar and the tools, i'm not sure how to change them. Its pretty easy to remove the bar, but the big questions is how to remove those switches?
Would you mind sharing with me the knowledge of to do so?
Cheers..

Now the bike looks much more cleaner and lower. i'm surprised how a handle bar can change a look on a bike quite dramatically.

Overall, I'm very satisfied with this modification. it makes the bike look much cleaner and sportier, as well as makes the bike feel sportier and more agile.[/QUOTE]

Totally agree! Very tasteful mods! Still a NineT, but better... :D
